Diana Lopez Working Hard Has Benefits...Eventually

Oooh, I sometimes just hate having to work 60+ hours a week. It just doesn't sit right with me. Being a full time student, full time manager, and a full time admin lead for CSTS global tends to make you stay up 24 hours straight. Which is actually what hour I'm on at the moment. 24. Been up for a full day trying to get everything crammed into one weekend before my lackluster 60-hour weeks turn into 75+ hour weeks. Then it gets hectic. I'm still trying to rally support over here on the east coas… Continue

Jesse Megacon

It's that time of the year and Megacon in Orlando is fast approaching. I was just curious to see if anyone else is attending. Should be lotsa fun. My friend and I are going as Mal and Zoe. And hopefully this year we are going to try and attend the Serenity screening. Hopefully. Continue

Matthew Cox Life, the Universe, and Everything...

Well, I've been AWOL from the site for a little while, mostly for job related reasons, as I'm currently trying to figure out how to reconfigure myself since I was just hired for a new position - I'm now teaching 6th grade Science and Math in Manatee County (just have to figure out a way to tie "Serenity" to the curriculum...) and while the upside is that I've doubled my income over my previous position, I've also more-than-doubled the amount of work I have to do, and my commute has gone from 2 m… Continue

Lucienne Just Joined!

Hey, anyone out there listening! Just joined today after attending the fabulous event at The Pitcher Show. (For anyone who was there, I was the one dressed as Kaylee with the parasol.) I'm already blogging here: http://varkat.livejournal.com, so I probably won't post much here, but I hope to get to more events and hope some of you will come see me over at livejournal or find me on MySpace and Facebook. Debbi I have a hole in my roof... FUN!

Working at a movie theater is not all fun and games as you might imagine. Well, it might be if you don't work very hard. Seeing that I RUN the theater, it isn't anywhere near fun most of the time. Weekends especially. They are our busy days (duh!) and consequently we work much harder. Fridays and Saturdays are "double" days for me. Open to close, 9 to 12 (midnight). Well, after a long day at work on Saturday, I REALLY want to go home and unwind with a book and go to bed as early I as can manage.… Continue

Derek Gubler History Rant

So today I'm looking on one of my daily political blogs, and it has a link back to a posting on the Daily Kos advocating that the United States needs to be invaded and occupied so that we will emotionally know the damage an invasion can cause. I won't continue on the foolishness of this post, but the person responsible is completely wrong about the history of the country that he lives in. And he's supposed to be a professor. As this is my blog, I've decided to make some needed corrections. The… Continue

Derek Gubler MMO's

I decided this morning to use some of my money that the US government overcharged me - my tax refund - to reactivate my City of Heroes account. (I will save my rant on the way this country lays and collects taxes for some where closer to April 15). I had to cancel it because my current roommate couldn't afford to pay as much as my previous one. Since being comfortable with the people I share my house with was more important than getting a full half of the mortgage, I accepted losing COH. At leas… Continue

Derek Gubler Bizzare Beginnings

Well, it's been nearly two months into 2008, and already I can tell that it's going to be one of those roller-coaster years. On the up side, I managed to land an internship in the fiscal department of the VA, and it looks like I will have a job there once I graduate USF. After doing fast-food management for the past fifteen years, its nice to be in an office environment. I like the folks I work with at the VA, and its fun having my brother working in the same facility - makes it easy on deciding… Continue
